We woke up at 3 o'clock in the morning to be one of the hopefuls to make it into the Tsukiji Fish Auction. Unfortunately, we ended up being the first people NOT to be let in. But that DID mean that we were first in line for the opening of the well known sushi restaurants. I had the freshest sushi I had ever eaten at Daiwa Sushi.
We were lucky enough to be served by the master chef. |
The fish market at dusk. |
Next, we went to Ueno Park to see the Tokyo National Museum.
Jonathan and his new friends! |
Inside the museum. |
They had original works from my favorite artist, Hiroshige. It was a dream come true seeing these! |
The museum held everything from art to artifacts, dating back hundreds of years. |
They also had this cool touch map for the seeing impaired. |
I also really liked this postcard from the gift shop for some reason. |
Leaving the museum and the Ueno park. |
After that, we made our way to the Pokemon Center. Yes, that is a real thing.
Jonathan and a basket of Eevees. |
For some reason they love Eevee here and have that character on random things. |
For dinner, we met up with Adrienne and her coworker Maggie. We ate izakaya (small plates) at 35 Step Bistro for our Thanksgiving meal.
