Tokyo | Day 1: Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya

We had a FULL first day in Japan! When we arrived at the airport we couldn't past the front gate. There were crowds of girls waiting for someone famous to come out.  When they did, neither I or Jonathan knew who these celebrities were though...

We met up with Adrienne, a friend from college. She was letting us stay with her through the entire trip.  She brought us to Afuri for our first meal in Japan: RAMEN.

I had been dreaming of this.

The next morning Adrienne took us to a delicious bakery!

Fresh muffins

Cute buns.

Learning to navigate through the Tokyo subway was a trip!

We first visited Meiji Temple, a peaceful shine situated in midst the busy city.

Stunning fall colors.

Approaching the shrine.

Along the way there were children in their kimonos.

The entrance.

The shrine.

All along the perimeter were offerings of fruit and vegetables in the shape of large boats.

Next we went to Harajuku for some snacking, people watching, and shopping. We walked along Takeshita Street, a busy row of shops!

We stoped at Calbee for a snack.

Freshly made potato chips with white chocolate and chocolate sauces.

Then we made our way to Shibuya around dusk, to watch the busy crossing street.

For dinner we had bullet train sushi. You ordered from a touch screen and the food was delivered to you right at your seat.

Finally, we ended the night a Tokyo Sky Tree
