From San Diego we drove 40 minutes South into Mexico. We forget that we are less than an afternoon car ride away from a whole different country. And oh yes, does Tijuana certainly feel like a different world!
After a far too quick and easy crossing of the border (literally just drive around a corner), we arrived at the Bohemian Room in Mexican Quinta. Staying at a place like Fernanda/Bibi's is what I love about airbnb. Not only was the room beautiful and comfortable, but we were able to glimpse into the rich culture and history of their home and family. Fernanda also had excellent local recommendations.
We arrived at the quinta at dusk, the evening was brightened by the sight of the house.
Inside, the artist family had decorated for Christmas. Natural light and hand picked adornments filled the rooms. We even found a kermit the frog margarita.
We were taken care of as if we were guests of honor-- leaving hand written notes, coffee, and holiday cookies every morning.
This place was definitely our style.
