The story of the Bhagavad Gita begins with a war between two cousins are fighting over a kingdom. On one side is the renowned archer prince,
Arjuna. On the day of the battle Arjuna
rides in to the battlefield. He looks to his side and sees his
family and friends, his mentors and teachers. But as he turns to look on the
opposing side, he also sees his family and friends, his mentors and teachers.
Filled with grief and anguish, Arjuna cannot continue. He throws down his bow
and drops to his knees. It is then the god Krishna (who has taken form
of Arjuna’s charioteer) manifests himself. Krishna tells Arjuna to stand up and fight. He tells him that the war is not
over. It is his destiny.
Perhaps this war is happening inside of us all the time, in
the battlefield of our minds. And like Arjuna we must stand up and fight. No matter how difficult, we
must stand up and become the person we were always meant to be.
