Everland

Anne and I went to Everland, the Korean equivalent to a theme park like Disneyland.  We took the train to Seoul and spent two days near the park.  We adventured in the daytime and slept in jjimjilbangs in the nighttime.

Always try to get a discount when purchasing a ticket.
There is ALWAYS one, whether it's through your credit card or their website!
We paid an average of 25,000 won for each full day.

In my opinion, there were A LOT of similarities to Disneyland and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, but the tickets were MUCH cheaper.  Everland has children rides, adult rides, animal exhibits, parades, and even an evening firework show.

Lines at the gate, even before opening.

The park was decorated for Halloween.
The buildings looked reminiscent of Disneyland's Main Street.

Here is a video Anne took of what the park look like on the inside.  This is part of Europeanland.

Pretty Anne and beer on tap everywhere!

Both Anne and I agreed that we had the most terrifying experience going through the Horror Maze. In groups of four, and equip with only a dull flashlight, they sent us into building decked out like a horror film.  People were in full make up popping out and chasing after us the entire way. Even though we knew it was completely fake, we screamed like there was no tomorrow.  We all RAN out of there as fast as we could.  I came out crying a little.

Only minutes later and we were on the fast track line to the T Express, the world's steepest wooden roller coaster. Our brains were completely burnt out from all the adrenaline, etc pumping though our systems that I couldn't even scream on the drop down. And we still had a full day ahead of us! (We rode the T Express 2 more times later! Haha.)

We continued on trying out more rides and watching shows. This was the Halloween Parade.

One ride was called Global Village and had moving dolls from each continent. Sound familiar?

Check out the video of us going through the American part of the ride.

Another ride was the Amazon Express, a rapid ride.  Unlike the rapid inner tube rides of America, these rafts had tarps you sat under so you wouldn't get wet.  They have heaters as you exit so that you can dry off. I guess people here really don't like getting wet!

Anne drying off...

At night, the park was lit up with festivities!

One of my favorite parts was the Psy Holographic K-Pop Concert.  They projected a 3D video of Psy performing, which had a lot of cool special effects.  As we entered, we had our picture taken-- which was then cropped in to psy posters and projected on the walls.

Here's the bits of the concert, again videotaped by Anne!

At night, they had a GORGEOUS Moonlight Parade.

Here is some video of the parade.

Every night they also have a spectacular firework and lazer show. Simple magical!

The next day, Anne and I stuck mostly to the animal exhibits.

In the bird exhibit.

One of the attractions was The Lost Valley, where we rode a "convertible amphibian vehicle" which traveled on land and water. We saw all sorts of animals.

The last night we were there we ate gamjatang with Sara and stayed the night at Siloam Spa.

My last hurrah (for now) in Seoul!  So happy I got to make it to a theme park this year!
