During my yoga training I was told this story. It's about a process of dying cloth.
First, the fabric is soaked in dye and the color saturates.
Next, the fabric is left out in the air, until the sun fades away all of the color.
At that point, the cloth is soaked in the dye once more and the color returns.
Then again, the fabric is placed in the sun until the color is beaten out.
This process repeats itself over and over and over and over and over again.
Each time the color becomes stronger and stronger until it no longer fades in the sun.
The color and the cloth have become one.
There are times in our life when the shades of our true selves radiate so purely. We are soaked and saturated. We are of peace. And yet, there are times when the sun beats down on us and we forget the color existed at all. We are beaten. We are lost. But as time goes on, perhaps the color doesn't fade so easily. And perhaps we are all evolving towards the day when the color and the cloth become one.
