Ten kilometers east of Panaji is
Old Goa, the historic city that served as capital of Portugese India from the 15th to 18th century. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There were several churches and sites to see in the area.

Inside the church was a courtyard. |
Nearby across the street was
Se Cathedral, a huge and most gorgeous church.

Outside Se Cathedral! The tree wants to be close to Jesus! |
We continued to walk around the area. There was plenty to see including a small chapel, a museum, and the Church of St. Francis Assisi.

Probably my favorite building we saw that day. |
|
There were just so many beautiful details in the walls and statues. |
In all the countries I've traveled to, places of worship have been the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen.
