After a delayed flight at 5:00 AM in the morning, we were so happy to reach Banglore. We arrived at
Atma Darshan Yogashram, a branch of the Bihar School of Yoga.

Breakfast one morning, super delicious veggie food! |
We spent the week learning about
Hatha Yoga, practicing
asanas (postures),
pranayama (breathing techniques), and even
shatkarma (bodily cleansing practices). We began at 6:00 AM and had two 1-hour long classes each day. Vegetarian meals were prepared for us breakfast, lunch, and dinner. After traveling and moving from place to place, it felt so lovely to stay in one place and have a routine. The week here was extremely restful and enlivening.
I also learned much about hatha style yoga. For our classes they emphasized awareness, releasing vital energy flow, detoxifying the organs, and the nervous system as ways to bring balance to the body, mind, and spirit. This ashram is a branch of the Bihar School of Yoga, the school which wrote many of my required text for my upcoming teacher's training in March. I am excited to learn more!
